This stand-alone document is part of a six disk series we at SchoolHouse Mac put together to help teachers who are learning to use HyperCard, get started. This combines articles and over 110 stacks we think provide useful insight into how HyperCard works or what can be done with it as well as being useful in themselves. This document is on the first disk of the series. (Note: The electronic document on the remaining five disks is not as long as this one.)
Getting Started 1 is a collection of articles written by us and others. Neither it nor the series is intended to be a complete or necessarily expert treatment of Hypercard. Rather, it is intended to be us to be a discussion of things we've found out about HyperCard as we've learned to use it.
We're uploading it and making it available BBS users in hopes of spreading the word about our organization and efforts and the series as well. You are welcome to use it for your own purposes or distribute it or part of, in classes or workshops you may hold as long as you are a school or university and not a for profit organization of some sort.

We are in the process of modifying the Getting Started Collection. Modification includes adding more information to the text portions, removing some stacks, adding better ones, and consolidating the articles and resources into one document. (Currently, each disk has its own standalone document with information about that disk's topic and appropriate stacks.)
All new information, tips, suggestions, etc., have been added to this document. This document also contains a complete listing with some comments about the stacks which have been included. The "Stacks That Teach" chapter in the text portion of books two through six are no longer accurate in that they discuss some stacks which are not included and have missed some which are.
In this version, we have completed adding information, removing some stacks and adding better ones. All we have left to do is to consolidate the texts into one stand alone document. When we complete that process, we will label the whole project version 2, but it will contain nothing you've not purchased with this.
